Sound & Screen · Home Theater & Whole-Home Audio

Home theater installation and whole-home audio, designed around Friday movie night.

Some evenings deserve a room built for them. Custom home theater installation in Columbus and Raleigh, whole-home audio zoned room by room, listening rooms placed by ear, and golf simulators built in 3D.

01 / Dedicated theater

A room with one job: movie night.

The shades drop and the screen wakes. A dedicated theater is built around one perfect seat: yours. We handle the viewing angles and the acoustic isolation, and we calibrate the picture to look the way the filmmaker intended. You handle the guest list.

02 / Media room

The media room that becomes a cinema

Not every family wants a dark room in the basement. A media room is the space you already live in, doing double duty: daylight and homework through the week, then one press and the shades come down, the lights settle, and the room turns into a cinema. Saturday night it's movie night. Sunday afternoon it's the big game, with the whole family on the sofa. The wiring stays concealed and the in-wall speakers are painted out, so nothing about the daytime room gives it away. Same sofa. Different room.

03 / Distributed audio

Whole home audio installation, every room its own volume

Distributed audio is its own discipline. The kitchen plays jazz while the porch stays quiet, and the kids' playlist never leaves the bonus room. In a new build we pull dedicated speaker runs to every zone during rough-in, before insulation and drywall; in a finished home we route wire through the attic and crawlspace, without tearing your walls open. Every room gets balanced by hand, the whole house runs from one app on Sonos, WiiM, or Juke Audio, and you'll stop wondering where the speakers are, because you can't see them.

04 / Hi-Fi & two-channel

One chair, two speakers, the whole record

A listening room is the opposite of background music. It's a pair of speakers, a chair set where the two of them lock into a single image, and an hour that was supposed to be twenty minutes. We match the pair to the room from Focal, Martin Logan, and Bowers & Wilkins, place them by ear, and choose electronics that get out of the way. Distributed audio serves the house. This room serves you.

05 / Golf simulator

Eighteen holes before breakfast

Dark at six in January, and a tee time whenever you want one. A simulator is a geometry problem before it's a purchase: ceiling height and hitting-line clearance checked against the plans, the impact screen and projector set to measured lines, and a wired drop for the launch monitor so your ball flight never buffers. Because the screen and sound are already theater-grade, the same room runs movie night. Practice range at seven, cinema at nine.

Home audio installation your houseguests can run

The test isn't whether you can run the theater. It's whether the babysitter can. Every screen and speaker in the house answers to one remote, with scenes built around how your family watches and listens. On handover day we stay until the whole household can run it, and years later the people who designed the room still answer the phone.

Common questions

What's the difference between a media room and a home theater?

Ask how the room gets used. A dedicated home theater is designed for the two hours the lights are down: acoustic isolation, riser seating, a calibrated picture, one perfect seat. A media room is for the other twenty-two, an ordinary room in daylight that drops to cinema mode on one press.

Can a golf simulator room double as a home theater?

Yes, and it's the smartest version of the room. Golf simulator installation needs the same bones a theater does: projector, screen, serious sound. We design it once so both jobs share one remote, wire the launch monitor on its own data drop, and verify swing clearance on the plans, not after the sofa arrives.

What is whole-home audio and how does it work?

Whole-home audio is music distributed through the house in zones, each room with its own volume and its own source, the speakers built into ceilings and walls instead of sitting on shelves. We pull the runs early, balance every room by hand, and put all of it in one app. Start a record in the kitchen and carry it out to the porch.

Can you add a home theater or whole-home audio to a finished home?

Yes, and it's a first-class project, not a compromise. Theaters go into existing bonus rooms and basements, distributed audio routes through attic and crawlspace runs, and a listening room needs a good corner more than it needs construction. We'll walk the house with you and tell you plainly what it takes.

Getting started

Friday night is a design decision.

Tell us the room: dedicated theater, media room, listening room, simulator, or music through the whole house. Send plans if the house is still on paper, photos if you're standing in it, and we'll mark them up or walk the house with you.
