Josh.ai · Private Voice Control

Private voice control for your home, from a certified Josh.ai dealer.

Say it once and the room answers. Lamps come down, shades close, the music follows you into the kitchen. Josh.ai hears your words, keeps them yours, and runs the house you already own. Josh.ai dealer in Columbus and Raleigh.

What Josh.ai is

Voice that knows which room you're standing in.

Ask for a little more light in the kitchen and the kitchen brightens. Ask for the same thing in the theater and the sconces come up while the screen stays dark. Josh.ai tracks where you are, so you talk the way you'd talk to somebody sitting across from you. No device names to memorize, no phrasing to get right. Say "Josh, it's movie time" and the house sets itself, the same way it does from a keypad in comfort and control.

Natural language

Talk to it the way you talk to people.

"Josh, turn everything off downstairs." "Josh, warm it up in here." Full sentences work. Half sentences work. Your ten-year-old's version of the same request works, which is the real test in a house full of people. Josh.ai reads what you meant instead of matching a script, so the system holds up on a Tuesday night with the dishwasher running and three conversations going. Pair it with lighting and shades and the room stops feeling like a device.

Privacy

The luxury alternative to a big-tech speaker.

Josh.ai doesn't sell your data and doesn't build an advertising profile out of your evenings. Processing is private by design, nothing gets kept to feed a marketing engine, and you delete your own voice history whenever you feel like it. The microphone sits behind a hardware mute with a light you can read from the doorway. A house this considered shouldn't come with a listening post on the counter.

Living with it

One sentence, and the evening lands.

Here's an ordinary Tuesday. You come through the door with grocery bags, say "Josh, I'm home," and the entry and the kitchen come up at the level you like at that hour. Guests arrive and one word takes the whole first floor to hosting. At midnight you say goodnight from under the covers and the downstairs goes dark behind you. Nobody opens an app. We tune these scenes room by room in Columbus and Raleigh homes until they land right.

Integration

One word moves lighting, shades, music, and climate together.

Josh.ai sits on top of the systems you already own. Your Lutron shades, your Control4 processor, your Sonos zones, your thermostats: one sentence reaches all of them at once. "Josh, good morning" lifts the bedroom shades, brings the kitchen to breakfast level, starts the playlist in the hall, and nudges the temperature up two degrees. That's four manufacturers answering one request, with no separate app for any of them. Add whole-home audio and the music simply follows the sentence.

Whole-home awareness

The house knows what's already happening.

Ask for music in the living room while a film is running and Josh.ai knows better than to talk over it. Say goodnight and it checks what's still on across the property, then shuts down the rooms nobody's in. That kind of awareness comes from the processor in your own rack, which keeps every scene and schedule running even on a night when the internet drops.

Certified

Ryan Prestel, our partner in North Carolina, holds the Josh.ai Technical Certification. The person designing your voice system was trained and tested on it by Josh.ai, so the microphone placement, the room names, and the phrasing all get decided by somebody who's done it before. Start a conversation and he'll walk the house with you.

Questions

What people ask us.

How is Josh.ai different from Alexa or Google Home?
Two things: what happens to what it hears, and how well it understands you. Alexa and Google are built to learn about you, because that's the business they're in. Josh.ai sells hardware and software, so it has no reason to profile your evenings. The second difference is fluency. Josh.ai handles full sentences, knows which room you're in, and follows up, so you say "a little warmer in here" instead of naming a device. It also drives professional systems like Lutron and Control4 directly, which the speaker on your kitchen counter can't reach.
Does Josh.ai need an internet connection?
It uses the internet for the language processing that turns your sentence into an instruction, so a full outage takes voice offline until service returns. Everything else keeps running. Your scenes and schedules live on the local processor in the rack, so the house behaves exactly as programmed while the line is down. Keypads, touchscreens, and app control over your home network all still work.
What can Josh.ai control in the house?
Anything we've integrated. Lighting and shades from Lutron, whole-house control through Control4, Sonos and other audio zones, thermostats, TVs and projectors, locks, cameras, pool and spa equipment. If it's on the system, it answers to voice. We map the phrasing to your rooms during programming, so "the porch" means your porch and "the theater" starts the right projector.
Is Josh.ai always listening?
It waits for its name, the way a person at the far end of the table does. Nothing leaves the device until you say "Josh," and there's a hardware mute that cuts the microphone at the circuit with a light you can read from across the room. Josh.ai doesn't sell your data, doesn't build an advertising profile out of your house, and lets you delete your voice history yourself. That's why we chose it for homes where privacy is part of the brief.
Can Josh.ai be added to a home that already has Control4?
Yes. Josh.ai talks to an existing Control4 system directly, so the scenes and zones you already paid for stay put. We add microphones in the rooms where you talk, the kitchen and the primary bedroom, tune the room names to your language, and you keep every keypad and touchscreen you have. A retrofit is a day of work in a house that's already furnished. Tell us what's in the rack on the contact page and we'll tell you what it takes.

Getting started

Say it once. Let the house handle the rest.

Tell us how your evenings go and which rooms never behave. We'll look at what's already in the rack, mark up where the microphones belong, and show you what one sentence can do with the house you have.
