We work in Durham. On a house that is going up we design from the plan set and get the wire in before drywall. On a house that is already finished we walk it first, then design around what the walls allow. Our own crews do the install, and we service what we install.

In the neighborhoods around downtown and Duke the houses were finished long before anyone ran a category cable, so the work starts with a walk: how the cable gets from the rack to the room, what the crawl space and the attic will allow, and which walls can be opened and closed again without the plaster telling on us. Out in the newer construction we are on the drawings instead, marking keypads and drops before framing. The design changes with the house. The standard does not.
Yes. Durham is part of our Raleigh service area, and we take on new construction and finished homes there.
Usually. The question is the cable path, not the house. We look at the crawl space, the attic, and which walls can be opened and closed again cleanly, then design around what we find. Where a wall genuinely cannot be opened, there are wireless options for lighting and shades that we would rather use in one room than in the whole house.
We do. When a builder or a designer is on the job we work under that relationship, so the technology gets drawn on the plans with everything else.
As early as the plans. Wiring goes in cleanly between framing and drywall; involve us before that window and the install costs less and looks like it was always meant to be there.
